Maybe you have a few questions?
That’s okay; most people do. So here is a quick collection of some of the questions people ask us… along with our answers. If you still have a question, do not hesitate to contact us (or give us a call), and we will be happy to answer it for you.
What does your company do?
The Overage Recovery Team specializes in locating and recovering overage or surplus funds that result from a tax or foreclosure sale. Then we contact the rightful owner to help them recover those funds and get it back into their pocket.
Why do I need to use your company to find my money?
The government agencies that are holding the funds do not post these online in most cases and will not usually show up in an internet search. There are state websites that list unclaimed funds but these are not the funds that we have discovered. If you don’t use a professional service like ours and try to find it yourself, there is a slim chance you will find it on your own. It can be done, but we exist to save you the headache.
Where does this money come from?
When a property is sold at auction, sometimes it sells for more than what is owed to creditors and lien holders. We believe the difference should go back to the homeowner or their heirs. If this money is not claimed within the strict deadlines set by each state, then the money is forfeited to the government and cannot be recovered easily.
Does The Overage Recovery Team charge a fee to file the claim?
We never charge any upfront fees. We absorb all the costs associated with filing the claim and recovering the funds. We only get paid when we successfully recover the money. If we cannot recover the funds, which is uncommon, then it costs you nothing. We get paid from a portion of the funds recovered with the client getting the lion’s share.
In what areas do we work?
We regularly audit government agencies throughout the entire country for overage funds belonging to private citizens.
How long does the whole process take to receive the money?
Each county has different procedures and guidelines. Depending on the county and type of claim it can take as little as 120 days from the filing date to receive your funds or it can take longer. The faster we get all required paperwork signed and returned by you, the quicker you can get your case in line to be seen by a judge. The quicker you are at returning the signed documents, the faster we are able to assist the law team at getting your case before a judge. There are often times of the year where we notice some counties will become backed up, sometimes 8-10 weeks before you can get your case in court. So help us to better help you and we always ensure we do everything we can to be as efficient as possible for our clients. We will let you know the situation and estimated wait times per the county your case is in, at the time of working with you and update you on those times as soon as we receive notice of those timeframes.
How did you find me?
When we discover overage funds, we use various research and skip tracing methods, as well as internet searches, to locate the rightful owner.
Can I recover the unknown funds myself?
Yes, you can do it yourself. People choose to work with us since the process can sometimes be complex; you may need to pay attorney fees, cover court costs, conduct time-consuming searches, etc., or you can work with us to avoid all of the expenses, and the work of figuring it all out.
How do I start the recovery process?
Contact The Overage Recovery Team by phone or email and a representative will discuss your claim in more detail and send the paperwork out to you to be signed. Once we receive all the paperwork back, then we will put your claim package together and file it with the proper county within 48 hours. We will help keep you informed throughout the entire process until the money is in your hands.
